Here is one project I’m working on for my big “book” project that I wrote about in my “About Me” page. I’m creating a miniature library for a character who is an inventor, and good friends with a barn owl. To stick with the owl theme, I designed a spiral staircase with the image of a barn owl lasered into each railing piece. I first had to draw out a design, then put it into a digital format. (You can see some of my sketches in the picture below)

My dad lasered each piece, with both the railing and the step being designed to fit together. I’ll finished them off with glue to keep them in place. We’ll need to make a lot of steps to make a miniature staircase that is about 2 feet tall!

Okay, I’ve changed the design a little to make the railing feasible. Here are some more pictures of the process…next step, construction!

I’ll wait for these to “dry” and the next step will be construction!
